Summary0000077: Removal of Radio Jam sound
DescriptionI'd like to ask for the removal of the sound which can be heard while the pilot is transmitting on the active radio when the frequency is in use by someone else. This is completely unrealistic. AM airplane radios are designed on purpose to allow multiple transmissions on the same frequency. Another issue is that radios are a simplex system - you can either transmit or receive, never both at the same time. Therefore, when the radio is keyed (you are transmitting), all you should hear in your helmet (headphones) is a low-level white noise. All other stations which are receiving the same frequency (their radios are not keyed) should be able to hear ALL the transmissions they can pick up, the closest one or the strongest source being the loudest one.
Steps To ReproduceEvery time you try to transmit while some else is talking.
Additional InformationThis is the same issue we already discussed a couple of years ago about the differences between AM and FM transmissions.

We have to be more than 2 pilots to get whole effect.
Ex : 4 pilots or ATC A B C D are on the same frequency. A B are talking at the same time.
UR plays an alarm sound for the talkers A B for informing them they are blocking the frequency. C D hear A and B with white noise and get the totality of the talking. When A is transmitting, he can't hear B. Same for B. It's a security. This alarm invites A B to release the PTT because other is talking while this time .
I think it's better. This alarm exists in advanced aero radio. I add this alarm.
Main is C and D continuing to hear A B.

With FM, C D can't understand the transmission of A + B, they get noise, because Addition of Frequencies Modulation.

Here is new info directly from one of my good friends - fighter pilots. When you are transmitting, you hear only yourself. When you are listening, and several stations are talking simultaneously, the transmission is garbled but readable. If there is a stronger transmitter in the vicinity, it will be heard a little better than the others. There is no alarm tone whatsoever.

If you are trying to replicate real-world system as closely as possible, this is the behavior you should try to simulate. I'd like to emphasize that all I have stated here applies to American air radios made in late 1990ies. I don't have any current information about new models, mainly from Europe and the rest of the world.

You're right. Blocking alarm exist in current and advanced radioset, less for 90's radios.
I'll add an option on UR CP for disabling "blocked comm alarm".
As wrote, this alarm informs a pilot he's pushing on PTT, he can't receive any transmission. Push by error or radio discipline problem (wait and listen before talk). That can help.

Perfect. Please also try to make the alarm sound not so loud as it is now. It should warn you, not make you deaf ;) By the way, real-life pilots mostly do not need an alarm to get alerted when they are transmitting because they know very well what they are doing. The problem is quite the opposite: The pilots tend to remain silent when they should be talking.

Anyway, your solution seems to be a good compromise. Let the pilots decide what option to go for.
